Instead of traditional shoe sizing, ski boots are sized in mondo (or mondopoint) sizing. The mondopoint measures the length in centimeters of the boot's inner sole. How to Size Your Ski Boots
In general, beginners want a boot that directly matches their street shoe size. Intermediate to advanced skiers can go a full size smaller, but it can depend on foot shape and personal preference.
The BSL, or boot sole length, measures the length of a boot in millimeters, and you'll need it to match boot to binding or mount your new pair of skis. - Ski boots should feel "suspiciously snug", as they'll pack out and get more roomy over time.
- All brands fit a bit different, so try on a few different models to find out what fits best.
- Perfect sizing feels like your toes gently kissing the edge of the liner while standing up, and pulling back as you flex into the boot.
- You'll notice different flex ratings for different boots. Softer boots are better for more cautious or newer skiers, while stiffer is better for more aggressive and experienced riders.
